This article explores the concept of wave-particle duality through experiments conducted by Huygens Optics using gamma rays. Utilizing a Radiacode 110 detector and an americium source from a smoke detector, the experiments tested the inverse-square law, temporal correlations between radiation detections, and Compton scattering. While the temporal correlation study showed no correlation in the source itself, it did reveal a strong correlation in cosmic ray-induced background radiation. Most notably, the demonstration of Compton scattering—where the energy of emitted radiation shifts based on the angle of incidence against graphite—provided strong evidence that quantization is an intrinsic property of the electromagnetic field rather than just an interaction with matter.
